Feedback Needed for Leslie

Here is your question to ponder for the weekend....

Do I like these shoes?

I'm not sure...I think they are kinda fun but am not sure if I can pull them off. I've been eyeing them all week long. One day I like them and go as far as "Add to Cart"; the next day I think they are hideous.

I think they may have potential with some cute trousers in the fall or a pencil skirt with a feminine top. And inserting a black ribbon instead of the shoelace.

But then again, maybe they are just hideous.

What do you think? I won't be offended either way because I can't decide what I think either!!! I did notice reading my new August Cosmo last night that there are 2 almost identical pair featured in there....but just because it's in a fashion magazine doesn't mean it's for everyone....but it does mean it's a hot trend....oh the debate!!!

In case you're curious, they are from Target.

I personally am not a fan. I think they could have potential with pants, so just a hint is shown below the cuff, but with a skirt...not so much. Please do keep in mind I am not near as trendy as you are, thus not near the risk taker. But that is my opinion. Let me know what you decide.

I kinda threw up in my mouth a little...me no likey.

Remember back in the early '90s guys would wear overalls with one shoulder not attached? That's how I feel about these shoes. While trendy, they're just bad.

You are not buying those shoes!!! I don't care if it's trendy. Jennifer Anniston has been wearing that long stringy hair parted in the middle for years and it still looks horrible. These shoes are not for ANYONE.

LOVES!!!

I am going to buck the trend here:
LOVE THE SHOES!
LOVE THE SHOES!

I am also going to go against the consensus - I love those shoes. I think worn the right way, the would be adorable. I can see them with a nice skirt, ruffle collar shirt, trendy vest and cute tights. I know it is a little prep school-ish but I think they are adorable.

Because I love you and you're my sister, I'm going to tell you the honest truth. NO! I see the "fun-ness" in them but you are not 5'11" and 100 lbs. These would make your legs look stumpy. You know I don't lie...

I kinda love them. I think they would look great with a wool skirt and tights in the fall.. or even a pair of nice wool trousers. I definitely think you could rock them. I say get them and play around! You can always return them if you can't make them work. Take a risk and see what happens! :)

I love them! In fact, we might just be shoes twinkies this fall. I think they are a nice alternative to boots with skirts and pants and are more substantial than just a pair of pumps during the colder months. Menswear is going to remain a huge trend in Fall 08 and these are a great way to sport the trend in a feminine way. I am envisioning them with wide leg tweed pants and a vest. Keep us updated if you order them!

Ok the split right down the middle comments are cracking me up!!! I was at work today (yes working on Saturday!!) and reading the commentary on my Blackberry was making me laugh! Looks like everyone is split--just like I am...I still can't decide...anyone else have any other thoughts?

Youre right Tracey--I can always order, try them out and return if I don't like...but if I order something, it seems to rarely go back!

Oh I am so being the tie-breaker!

I am super indifferent to them. They don't strike me as horrible nor excellent, so I guess I sit where you do, Lady Leslie. My solution is to buy them, try them out with what you originally imagined, and see how it works. Like the lovelies who responded earlier... You can always return them! But I do see them as being super chic for the fall. Tweed = Love.

I remember having a pair of these when I was 14 (1980). We called them Granny Shoes and they were the most coveted item in every teenage girl's wardrobe. I finally saved enough money up from my Saturday job (my mum wouldn't buy me some) and wore them to church. I had so many envious comments it was sinful!
And yes, come the Fall (Autumn to us in the UK) they will look fab. BUY THEM.

BUY THE SHOES ALREADY! They are awesome!
P.S. Start shopping for textured tights also. They are going to be everywhere this fall. And I have seen some super cute ones!
(Did I mention BUY THE SHOES???)

So I went over to my friend Angela and Dave's last night and we were discussing these shoes. Well Ang came down stairs and had just purchased a brown pair at DSW. They are adorable and I will be sporting this look come fall. I guess I will pose this question to you Les - What do you think you should do? If you like them, that should be all that matters. Work it girl!

Great shoes! And I love the idea of replacing the shoe laces with shiny black ribbons. They are perfect!

I dunno, Leslie. I know they're supposed to look like "guy" shoes (ahem.. excuse me.. I mean "menswear") but these definitely scream "orthopedic".. :P
