What a weekend! Surely you didn't miss Saturday night's swimming final when Phelps won his 8th gold medal...wow. It was so exciting! I was at a local restaurant with some girlfriends and the whole place went nuts when he won. I managed not to cry along with his family and that's saying something because I usually cry right along with the Olympians and their families.
I've publicly denounced Leslie's Olympic Blog Challenge due to my not dressing in "themes" and because I don't wear white (it's horrid on me!). However, seeing as how I've stared at the swimmers' torsos to wantonly, I suppose it's only fair to play along. *sigh* I sure am going to miss those half naked, wet bodies...four more years, right?
Dress: Mossimo (E has it too!)
Belt: Walmart
Shoes: Target
Al told me my dress looked purple this morning. Seeing as how he's The Laundry Master, it's his fault it's a different hue, no? I'm not sure why it looks purpleish but it sorta does. Oh well.
I've had these shoes for several years and I LOVE THEM. They match everything, they're comfortable and they're cute.
They're also gold, silver, and bronze. How appropriate. :)
I would have worn some Phelpesian Gold shoes, but my gold flats hurt a LOT and I just can't spend a day at work with sore feets!
And now, ladies, for your viewing pleasure...some Monday Morning Manjoyment:

Feel free to clicky on the pics to make them bigger. You know, so you can, uh...appreciate athletic sporting events. Yeah. It's cultural and stuff.
I know. You're welcome ;)

Thursday -- Ally
Leslie once said you can wear sequins on your birthday. While today's not MY birthday, it's gotta be someone's so I may as well celebrate!
Black pleated cardi: Mossimo
Silver sequin tank: New York & Company
Pants: east 5th (JCP housebrand)
Shoes: Target
Necklace: vintage
I bought this several weeks ago but keep putting off wearing it because I didn't have a short-sleeved cardi to 1) cover my arms and 2) hide the ill-fitting straps. They really need to be taken up but do fine if under a sweater.
Thankfully I took this picture early b/c I managed to dribble coffee on it late afternoon!
This lovely vintage necklace is courtesy of my Me-Maw. She was in town a year or two ago and spent the night with my parents. I was over and she was going through all her old costume jewelry. Of course, I had to get my sticky fingers involved!!
I love the tassle on this!
She gave me several pieces and I'll make sure to debut them soon!
These shoes get a lot of use!
So happy birthday Amelia Earhart! Happy Pioneer Day, Utah! Most importantly, Happy National Tequila Day!! These sequins are for you!

Weekend -- Ally
What a great weekend!! Exhausting, but great. Tracey, Al and I took a little road trip to pick up T's new car (can't wait for her to share her new, cute ride!) and did some serious SuperTarget shopping! We don't have a SuperTarget in Louisville but now I really wish we did!
Dress: Mossimo ($20)
Wooden necklace: Walmart ($5)
Belt: "borrowed" from Mama
Bracelets: Old Navy ($3 for all 10 - super sale!)
Wedges: Nine West Studio ($20 @ Zappos.com outlet, natch)
Purse: Coach (not cheap but cute!)
This belt is probably 20 years old. I remember Mama wearing it with jeans and when I got a little older, I took it over. It's been mine ever since but I've probably not worn it in at least 10 years. It's lived in my donate-to-goodwill box for so long it's embarrassing. Yet today, for some reason, I remembered it and thought it'd pull this dress together - and it did! The elastic on it is nearly shot so it doesn't have much life left.
Picked up this necklace at Walmart for $5 or so.
The bracelets were an Old Navy super clearance deal. They were packaged together in a pretty box for Mother's Day and marked $20, but I got them for $3! It's a set of 10 and each are different.
I looooove these shoes. I call them my Big Girl Shoes because I'm at least 5 inches taller in them. They're certainly not something I wear if I'll be walking at all.
I guess the Nine West Studio line isn't around anymore because I couldn't find them online. They were Nine West's high-end line and featured nicer leathers, styles, and all the shoes came with sleeper bags. These retailed at $140 but you know I didn't pay that! $20 at the Zappos.com outlet!
I have a feeling this dress will get a LOT of wear this summer. It's so versatile and I can't wait to try some new things with it!

Sometimes I get a little Carrie Fever and today it was no exception.
Dress: Merona
Cardi: NY&Co.
Tank: Merona (under dress)
Belt: ebay
Shoes: Mossimo
Inspired by Carrie's Roger belt in Sex and the City: The Movie, I scoured ebay for weeks until I came across this. It's not quite right but it was a whopping $10 so it couldn't hurt. It needs a few more studs added to the front so the buckle is worn in the back for now. I had to wear this with a cardi to cover the buckle and it came to me this morning this dress/cardi combo would be a perfect chance. I need to pull a Kimberly and add them myself!
I threw on my horseshoe necklace for nostalgia purposes :)
These are some of my favorite shoes. $25 at Target this Spring!
Edging and heel are patent and the rest is a canvas/twill fabric.
The hidden platform makes them mostly comfortable but they still pinch my big toe.
Do you have a Carrie outfit?

Monday Funday -- Ally
I'm just tickled Leslie and Tracey are back in town AND it seems Leslie is feeling a little better - good news all around. I had a great weekend (as evident in the weekend post..haha) and hope yours were all great too!
In sheer coincidence, Leslie and I wore nearly identical outfits today! However, I was cross-eyed in the picture (I was looking out the window behind me in the mirror...saw a strange car) and got too busy to retake another picture, so I cropped out my head.
Dress: Merona
Cardi: Mossimo
Tank: Merona
Belt: Walmart
Necklace: Walmart
Studded clutch: Steve Madden via Von Maur
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini
This is one of my favorite dresses. I wish I had it in a size smaller because it's just WAY too low and big on top and I can't wear it without something under and over it :(
Al and I spent Sunday afternoon shopping which as much as I like shopping, is totally uncharacteristic for us both. We actually went to a mall! What the heck?!?
I drug him to the Von Maur shoe room (didn't see a thing in my budget) but Al ended up getting shoes.
On our way out, I swung through the women's accessories and eyeballed this gem. It's fantastic and I LOVE IT.
Thanks for not giving me TOO much crap for my weekend outfit! I almost didn't link to the party to see what kind of response I'd get, but decided to be nice and clue you in. We had a blast!

Wednesday -- Ally
Our fashionable friend Leslie is super sick , so here's to her feeling better soon! You just can't be sick on vacation!!! Get better, kitten!
Cropped birdie cardi: Mossimo
Pleated tank: New York & Co.
Pants: east 5th (JCP)
Wedges: Isaac Mizrahi for Target
Michelle Obama-esque pearls: Walmart ($8)
Bracelets: gifts
I don't wear this cardigan much and for no good reason. It's plenty cute, but I think it's related to my deep hatred of birds.
I told Al the other night I think Michelle Obama will be our generation's Jackie O. Women across the country are buying dresses like hers, belts like hers and I even got a necklace like the one she wears. I'm not much for pearls, but she doesn't seem to be either. She makes them look tough and I'm trying!
These are from a couple years ago. LOVE THEM.
I finally settled with a new color for summer!
2 coats of Wet 'n Wild Golden Pink (#483C)
1 coat of OPI's Your Villa or Mine?
I think it makes my feet look dirty, but I'll get over it. I'm so used to dark toe colors!
The bracelet on the left is one I've had for almost 10 years. I got it right when I joined my sorority and it really means a lot to me. I wear it almost daily.
The one on the right is one I found while cleaning my closet this weekend! It's a Brighton and really not my style but I like it well enough.
This was a gift to myself :)
I've heard good things about Swiss Army watches and I've had this one for almost two years. The only issue I've had is with the band, and it's because the place that adjusted it did a crap job and almost broke it.
The band on this watch looks different, but it's the same watch, just a newer model.

Tuesday-- Leslie
Tie Neck Top: The Limited
Sweater Vest Shell: Mossimo
Grey Pinstripe Pants: Banana Republic Factory Outlet
Brown Heels: Nine West
Yellow Bag: Cato
Well, I sure hope I look better than I feel. Because I feel not so hot. You see no weekend posts from me because I hid under a blanket and slept due to whatever summer cold has taken me over and won't leave. It's my fault. I didn't listen to Jamie and take my vitamins. My goal is just getting through work for a few days and then I think recovery could come via a week in Hilton Head. :-) I warn you now, don't expect any cute outfits next week. It'll probably be swimsuit, coverup, chino skirt, tee, and flip flops for the week and I can't wait!!
Anyhow, this "vest" is actually the shell of a sweater set and I was just standing in the closet this morning and thought it may work as a vest with my lightweight tie neck top. To my surprise and happiness, it did!! These pants are just so comfy--they're a little large but I never got them tailored but they just kinda drape perfectly. A great Hilton Head find a couple years ago--I cant wait to find more good buys this year! My other objective this morning when getting dressed was something I could throw jeans on with and look cute for an alumni event after work. A simple vest, shirt and heels fit the bill!
