Monday -- Ally

I hope everyone had a great weekend. With the exception of my allergies acting up, mine was wonderful :)

Have you visited Sal yet? If not, get over there! I sent her our scarf-tying resources last week and she was sweet enough to put video tutorials on her site! Go check 'em out.

Sweater: NY&Co.

Denim skirt: Old Navy (yes. I have three now.)

Green wedges: Antonio Melanni (Dillard's house brand)

Silk argyle scarf: eBay

This is the cutest scarf! The print is so preppy and it really was shown off nicely this way.

If you want to try it yourself, click here or watch Sal's video tutorial. It's the second one and very cleverly named "neck wrap."

Thursday -- Ally

After my Sad Sack Sally out fit from yesterday, I had to punch it up with some color!

Sweater: Target

Denim pencil skirt: Lands' End

Shoes: Target

Bag: JCP

Necklace: I have no idea!!

I like these colors all together best (yes, I'm still carrying this big, pink bag!) but the yellow shoes are too comfortable to NOT wear them every day! Besides, E inspired me with her pretty cardi yesterday! (By the way, how sweet is Kimberly for sending her a surprise?)

Cute cute cute.

Nic @ Domestic Sophisticate has these shoes and seems to love them as much as I do!

TGIT -- Ally

I'm off work tomorrow (working the weekend) so today's my Friday. Woo!!!

Top: NY&Co.

Denim skirt: Geoffery Beene

Scarf as belt: Nine West (came on a purse)

Shoes: Nine West

It's kinda hard to see any details today - my office is especially dark this morning. Weird since I usually have to close my blinds to keep the sun out of my eyes.

I got this skirt at the Geoffery Beene outlet in Gulf Shores, Alabama a few years back. I haven't worn it in ages because honestly I thought it was too small. I've gained about 10 lbs this year (see: Big Boy, yesterday) and thought it'd be too snug. Pleasant surprise for sure.
This scarf came on a purple suede tote you'll see me carry once the weather cools some. It also came with a "black" one that's the same pattern but in black and cooler (pink, plue, grey) colors.

My knee has finally healed up enough for you to see it :) It still hurts like crazy, but at least the scab has fallen off.

Stay tuned because we have our first guest blog post tomorrow! Who do you think it'll be? I'll give you hints in the comments...

Weekend -- Ally

After 3+ days of battling a sinus infection, I emerged from the house. Al and I had burgers at a local dive and enjoyed a nice afternoon together.

Cardi: NY&Co.

Tank: Banana Republic

Jeans: Gap

Bag: JC Penney

Wedges: Nine West

I looked all over the JCP website for this bag but it's not on there anymore :( Ditto w/the BR top. I try to accommodate, but the internets gets in my way. *sigh*

How cute is this? LOVES. This pink-fuchsia-purple color is one of my new favorites.

Weekend and Traveling Scarf -- Ally

I hope you've all had a great weekend - I sure have! Al and I went to the new Bristol in Jeffersonville on the river for a brunch date. Most Louisvillians talk a lot of smack about Southern Indiana (they do call themselves The Sunny Side of Louisville after all) but I love it. Lots of great restaurants and you can't get a view like this of our beautiful city IN the city, so why not cross the bridge??
Brunch was super yummy and we sat outside. We got there just in time because the sun began to creep over the top of the building and onto our table on the patio just as we got our check. Whew! This pale gal doesn't do sun!

Top: NY&Co.

Skirt: Lands' End

Shoes: Gianni Bini

Bag: Coach

Scarf worn as belt: Kimberly's Traveling Scarf!!

I had a couple other ideas (one involved a great red dress) but I got so bent out of shape this morning with said red dress that this was my back up outfit. It worked, but it really wasn't what I wanted to wear. Oh well!

I got these wedges at Dillard's super crazy clearance three or four years ago for $17 or something nuts like that. They're so comfortable and one of my favorites.

This evening I'm getting together with some girls you may know...expect pictures!!

Weekend -- Ally

What a great weekend!! Exhausting, but great. Tracey, Al and I took a little road trip to pick up T's new car (can't wait for her to share her new, cute ride!) and did some serious SuperTarget shopping! We don't have a SuperTarget in Louisville but now I really wish we did!

Dress: Mossimo ($20)

Wooden necklace: Walmart ($5)

Belt: "borrowed" from Mama

Bracelets: Old Navy ($3 for all 10 - super sale!)

Wedges: Nine West Studio ($20 @ Zappos.com outlet, natch)

Purse: Coach (not cheap but cute!)

This belt is probably 20 years old. I remember Mama wearing it with jeans and when I got a little older, I took it over. It's been mine ever since but I've probably not worn it in at least 10 years. It's lived in my donate-to-goodwill box for so long it's embarrassing. Yet today, for some reason, I remembered it and thought it'd pull this dress together - and it did! The elastic on it is nearly shot so it doesn't have much life left.

Picked up this necklace at Walmart for $5 or so.

The bracelets were an Old Navy super clearance deal. They were packaged together in a pretty box for Mother's Day and marked $20, but I got them for $3! It's a set of 10 and each are different.

I looooove these shoes. I call them my Big Girl Shoes because I'm at least 5 inches taller in them. They're certainly not something I wear if I'll be walking at all.

I guess the Nine West Studio line isn't around anymore because I couldn't find them online. They were Nine West's high-end line and featured nicer leathers, styles, and all the shoes came with sleeper bags. These retailed at $140 but you know I didn't pay that! $20 at the Zappos.com outlet!

I have a feeling this dress will get a LOT of wear this summer. It's so versatile and I can't wait to try some new things with it!

Weekend -- Ally

Happy holiday weekend!! Friday night was spent at dinner with some out-of-town friends.

Dress: Blue Plate (via General Eccentric)

Cardigan: Merona

Tank: Merona

Belt: Walmart

Necklace: Slutty teen store in mall

Shoes: Charles David (via Zappos outlet) [The linked shoes are similiar but different and a different line of CD's shoes but close enough to give you an idea]

I've had this dress for a couple of years but have only worn it twice because it's just WAY too revealing on top for me. Tooooooo much skin for Ally! Despite my loving it, I don't wear it because of that. However, I saw Londyn wearing it and thought, "You know, I could just layer a cardi over it...." and there you have it. It's just way too cute to live in the closet. The detailing at the waist and top are lovely, but you're not paying for a boob show, so check out the dress on Londyn if you want to see how cute the rest of it is! ;)

In Hindsight, the blue/green/yellow colors are very Mardi Gras, no?

Al calls this my Lisa Simpson necklace :) Little does he know she's one of my feminist heroes.

These Charles David wedges were yet another Zappos.com outlet bargain. They were probably $20-30 per usual.

The back heel is a little wet from the downpour we scampered in from. It was a rainy 4th of July in Louisville!

Earlier in the week Al and I went to our local thrift store. They have everything 25% off some days and we were there at the right time! I picked up three scarves for $1.84 each. I also got some other deals but I'll post those another time.

My accessories like to be accessorized too!

The scarf is silk and has blue/orange-red/green/pink/brown striped edging and the same colors in dots in the center. Too cute!

Saturday night we went to a cookout at a friend's house:
Denim Vest/waistcoat: thrifted

Graphic tee: Walmart

Skirt: thrifted

Shoes: Target

Dog Butt: Murray, KY

I tried something new with the mixing of patterns and layers, but I really think it works. The skirt is super comfortable and stretchy - perfect for beers and burgers!

My wedges:

Al and I at the cook out:
Isn't he handsome?

I hope everyone had a safe and classy holiday weekend!!! I can't wait to hear about them!

Weekend -- Ally

I worked both days this weekend so I had to wear something other than pants with an elastic waist. *sigh* ;) Fortunately, we're allowed to wear denim on weekends so long as it's cute and pulled-together. No rock tshirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, etc.

Since I worked these two days, I get Monday/Friday off. Friday was spent running around with Tracey and later meeting Al and friends. I'm posting Friday's outfit with Saturday/Sunday because it's weekend enough for me!

Friday: ON LOCATION!!! :)

Black "wrap" top: NYandCo. ($12)

Jeans: Gap curvy fit

Scarf: Banana Republic (gift)

Sunnies: Maxstudio

Pink leather bangle: JCP ($10 - from my haul earlier in the month)

Bag: Michael Kors

Shoes: Crocs Prima

Just the right outfit for an afternoon of beer, shopping, beer again, free concert, then um...beer. What?!? It was my day off! Tracey supervised my behavior so I can assure I was good! :)

Saturday:
Cardi: NYandCo. ($10 super clearance)

Tank: Mossimo

Jeans: Gap

Brown peep toe wedges: Nine West

Necklace: gift

I had a belt over the tank when I left the house but I was crazy busy at work and it just had to go. I think the outfit still looks cute without it. This is the same top/cardi I wore in this post - just swapped the pants and shoes!

My mama got this necklace for me. Not sure where it came from, but knowing her, it was a steal. I learned bargain shopping at a VERY early age from an excellent teacher! :)

You can see the satiny detail on the tank a little better too. The center "v" and edge are satin and the rest is a super soft, drapey cotton. Al took the pic and it turned into more of a boob shot than I asked for. Men!

Sunday:
Black blouse: Worthington (JCP) ($17? I forget. I have it in orange too)

Denim pencil skirt: Lands' End ($35)

Belt: JCP ($8)

Flats: Crocs Prima (gift)

So let's talk about these shoes. I loathe the Crocs clogs you see people tripping over and children wearing. HATE THEM. Ditto on flip flops. I think if you're being THAT casual, you should reevaluate if you ought to leave the house in the first place.

However, these aren't those big clunky Crocs and they're downright cute. They're ridiculously comfortable and that's necessary for me when I'm at work. I walk a lot (especially on weekends when I'm flying solo) and the stilettos get old and painful. I toss these in the car most days and I also have a pair in red. My only complaint is they eat my toenail polish. I'll take them off and an entire toe will be without polish - weird!!!

How cute is this belt?? It was one of my steals from the JCP haul a couple of weeks ago. I got it for $8. The leopard is fuzzy and the black is patent. LOVE IT. The buckle kinda reminds me of the Fendi buckles, just cheaper :)

Whew! That was quite the update! I'm off tomorrow (Monday) and I hope to finish up the closet (have I ever mentioned I'm all about being lazy and putting off stuff??). I'll post pics of that annnnnd I have a fun surprise post coming up too!

Wednesday -- Ally

Our fashionable friend Leslie is super sick , so here's to her feeling better soon! You just can't be sick on vacation!!! Get better, kitten!

Cropped birdie cardi: Mossimo

Pleated tank: New York & Co.

Pants: east 5th (JCP)

Wedges: Isaac Mizrahi for Target

Michelle Obama-esque pearls: Walmart ($8)

Bracelets: gifts

I don't wear this cardigan much and for no good reason. It's plenty cute, but I think it's related to my deep hatred of birds.

I told Al the other night I think Michelle Obama will be our generation's Jackie O. Women across the country are buying dresses like hers, belts like hers and I even got a necklace like the one she wears. I'm not much for pearls, but she doesn't seem to be either. She makes them look tough and I'm trying!

These are from a couple years ago. LOVE THEM.

I finally settled with a new color for summer!

2 coats of Wet 'n Wild Golden Pink (#483C)
1 coat of OPI's Your Villa or Mine?

I think it makes my feet look dirty, but I'll get over it. I'm so used to dark toe colors!

The bracelet on the left is one I've had for almost 10 years. I got it right when I joined my sorority and it really means a lot to me. I wear it almost daily.

The one on the right is one I found while cleaning my closet this weekend! It's a Brighton and really not my style but I like it well enough.

This was a gift to myself :)

I've heard good things about Swiss Army watches and I've had this one for almost two years. The only issue I've had is with the band, and it's because the place that adjusted it did a crap job and almost broke it.

The band on this watch looks different, but it's the same watch, just a newer model.
