Weekend -- Ally and a giveaway!

Can you believe the poinsettia at work is STILL alive?? It's still alive b/c I've not touched it, this much I know.
Cardi: NY&Co.

Pleated tank: NY&Co.

Jeans: Old Navy

Necklace: gift

Bracelet: Walmart

Shoes: Sam Edelman

Since I've been boring you so much lately with my "uniforms" I decided to do a little giveaway. I've been a fan of Korres products for several months now and want to share the love.

The Best of Korres set is a terrific way to get familiar with the brand and try a little of everything.
Korres Best of Korres
Included in the set:
Guava Body Butter
Basil Lemon Shower Gel
Vanilla Cinnamon Shower Gel
Wild Rose moisturizer
Eye cream
Cooling yogurt gel

So here's what I need from you: What do you do to get out of a style rut? Do you look at magazines for inspiration? Check out fashion and style blogs? Watch runway shows?

Leave a comment with what you do and I'll draw a name from all the entries. You have until April 17th to leave your comment!

If you post this on your blog with a link back to this post, you'll get another entry :) Be sure to email us with your link so we can be sure to count you!

Thanks and good luck!!

(I feel like a total eBayer with this pic. Nice thumb, huh?)

I came to the world of blogging for help...lol. I've been stuck in what I would call a house bound frump. Most of what I find in magazines seems somehow "odd" for my lifestyle. Seeing real people in clothes and seeing suggestions helps me much more.

Sometimes I dont even know I am in a rut and then I see a movie or a tv show with a nicely dressed girl and it makes me think about my outfits differently. I love to look at style blogs as well, especially those sassy girls at Cute on the Cheap! by the way your uniform is cute and I wear similar clothing all the time.

When I'm in a rut I go to bed. Then I wake up and start shopping online. You know what's sad? I was trying to be funny but I think that's true!

What a great giveaway! I usually shop for myself either by myself or online. When I am in a rut, I usually try and take someone shopping with me who is not afraid to give me their opinion. Oh, and I always try to take a look at the Lucky shopping manual or Lucky magazine for inspiration!

For me a rut is simply being tired of my clothes. So for help, I turn to fashion magazines and blogs for inspiration. I often find that I have similar versatile pieces, but just haven't matched them up with other items or otherwise gotten creative. It really helps...

When I get in a fashion rut, I rearrange my closet. The truth is, I have a lot of fabulous stuff, I just forget about it in favor of my 'favorites'. So I take a Saturday and rearrange the closet. I always find great treasures I forgot I had. It never fails to get me excited about my closet again.

If I'm in a style rut I turn to my look book. I have a binder that I've filled with pics of myself, pages ripped out of mags, etc. I'll just flip through it until I find something that 'speaks to me' and I'll go in that direction. It could be a color or complete outfit that inspires me.

A note on the poinsettia, I have one and it's still going strong as well. I can't even remember when we brought the thing home! We water it every 3 days and have it in a kitchen window so that has something to do with it I guess!

I come to Cute on the Cheap! Really though, I've been in a fashion rut my whole life. I've been trying to step outside of the box lately and at least try on things that I wouldn't have otherwise.

What I'd like to do is take a couple friends shopping and have them dress me. I don't want to pick out anything.

I am actually just moments away from posting a blog post about how I feel like I'm in a rut. Sigh. And I'm not entirely sure what to tell you. I've been doing a couple things - #1, I've been spending more time online looking around at fashion blogs, polyvore, etc. to try and see what I like and see if I can come up with a cohesive idea of where I want my wardrobe to take me next. Another trick I do is to make up challenges for myself. I'll rip a page out of a magazine and try to copy that look with what I have. Or, I'll find a piece that I haven't worn in a while and make myself create an outfit around it. Or make myself try a new color combo....anything to get myself thinking outside of my regular box.

My pointsettia from Christmas 2007 is still alive. No flowers, though, now it's just all green!

when I'm in a rut I just go to my favorite stores and look at the displays. Thats all I need to get myself back in the mood.

When I get in a fashion rut, I search fashion magazines for new ideas. Then I check the sales catalogs. Alot of sales catalogs show a mix and match section of items. That's handy to help me mix and match what I already have in my wardrobe.

When I get in a fashion rut, I view fashion blogs for inspiration. Sometimes I'll get inspiration from trends or new and creative ways to pair color. I mainly look for what works for those with my body type (short, petite, curvy). I hope I win :)!

When I feel like I'm in a rut, I try to wear some item in my closet I realize I rarely/never wear. Browsing flickr also helps--though, because so many of the stylish folks there get their things vintage, it can be frustrating knowing I can't really replicate the look. Sewing always helps, too!

I use my fab fellow bloggers for some new ways to jazz up my wardrobe items and I then have a mini fashion show with my new ideas!

I buy something small and cheap, like a new color of nail polish. Then I have to work with my wardrobe to try and create a new look with that item - figuring out what goes with my lime green toenails!!

Okay first of all...your "uniform" and my "uniform" are very similar...my shoe choice is usually different but I am pretty much a cardi/tank/black pants kinda girl! When I am in a fashion rut I buy tons of fashion magazines and look to them for inspirations and then I check out my favorite discount stores to shop for "inspired" by looks

I go to a friend of mine who works for a high end boutique. She gets me something on sale and with her employee discount I can actually afford it.

Great giveaway! When I'm in a rut I get a new look, maybe a haircut or something a little different with my haircolor (brighter, or more lowlights) and then look for that fabulous new outfit. That usually lights the fire back underneath me! :)

When I am in a style rut, I people watch! I don't sit and stare obnoxiously, but while I'm out I will look at women with similar body shapes and see what they are wearing. It probably sounds weird, but I have bought a lot of things I would have usually skipped over in the store because of people watching!

My job is like a fashion show, so I watch what people wear. But honestly, if I think it's cute and on sale, I will buy it.

Thank for sharing some beauty secrets

If I need to get out of a rut I go window shopping. I see my closet with a new eye and toss things that don't work any longer. I can also match up pieces differently and get some new looks.

I read the sales ads and then go to the mall. However it is hard to pick a current style as they seem to be geared to under 25's. sharonaquilino(at)hotmail(dot)com

I look through my "inspiration folder" - a big accordian file that I put all my tears from magazines in. Also, I have an online "folder" too that I upload looks to. With challenging myself to never repeat an outfit it gets hard sometimes, but I have done it for over a year & a half now!

I love to wait for the newest Lucky and InStyle mags to come out. I scour through them looking for cute ideas and what I have already in my closet to work with. I love surfing the fashion and beauty blogs to generate ideas. I suffer from a lack of creativity, so I depend on the good style of others to help me through. Then I head to my favorite stores and try to find new and interesting pieces. xoxo
